Madison County Sheriff's Office Major David Harper reports that on Tuesday, Jan. 31, Pedro Tomas Lopez of Lake Worth, Fl. was arrested for possession of narcotics with intent to sell. Sgt. Brandon Goldman of the Interstate Criminal Enforcement (ICE) Team stopped a silver Jeep for following other motorists at an unsafe distance. Sgt. Goldman detected the odor of marijuana; and the driver, identified as Lopez, refused to exit the vehicle after Sgt. Goldman and assisting partner Sgt. Mike Maurice instructed him to do so. The deputies removed Lopez from the vehicle and, upon discovering a large bulldog inside, called Madison County Animal Control, which took possession of the animal. The subsequent search of the vehicle produced 16 grams of crack cocaine, 94 grams of marijuana, 142 grams of marijuana THC paste, also known as “butter,” a digital scale and multiple small plastic bags commonly used to package narcotics. Lopez was arrested and transported to the Madison County Jail.
