The Madison County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force has been conducting a covert investigation involving the possession and sale of marijuana and synthetic marijuana, also known as “spice.”
Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that the investigation has spanned over the recent months and resulted in obtaining arrest warrants for Calvin Jerome Bruton, 36, of Madison.
In addition to the arrest warrants, Sgt. Lauth and Sgt. Boatwright obtained a search warrant for the residence and attached property located at 133 SW Millinor Street in Madison where Bruton had been conducting his illegal activity.
On Thursday Jan. 28, the Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T.) executed the search warrant on the residence and land thereof.
As a result of the search warrant, an additional 6.67 pounds of synthetic marijuana “spice,” 3.72 pounds of marijuana, 20 doses of scheduled II drug and one High Point 40 caliber handgun was discovered and seized.
Patrick Moore, 23, of Madison, and Michael Wilson, 38, also of Madison, were present in the residence and Moore was taken into custody on possession with intent to sell charges while Wilson was arrested for resisting.
Moore and Wilson eventually assisted the officers by providing details on the whereabouts of Bruton.
Bruton was soon located at 170 Chickweed Circle in Madison where he was taken into custody on the arrest warrants.
In addition to the arrest warrants, Bruton was found to possess a Charter Arms 38 caliber handgun.
Bruton is facing charges of possession of synthetic marijuana and possession with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a childcare facility, possession of over 20 grams of marijuana and possession of over three grams of synthetic marijuana, possession of schedule II with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Moore is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance, use/display or carry of a concealed firearm and possession with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a childcare facility and Wilson is faced with resisting an officer without violence.
