Becky’s Dance Steps Studio will again be welcoming Scott Benson, renowned dancer, choreographer and teacher, to its staff for the upcoming 2014 – 2015 dance season. Becky Robinson, studio director and owner, is looking forward to again offering weekly classes taught by Mr. Benson in jazz, lyrical, contemporary and hip hop as part of the studio’s curriculum. In addition to the regular classes that will be taught by Mr. Benson, there will also be private lessons, duo-trios and small group lessons available for those interested. Mr. Benson, a native of Southern California, is now based out of Tallahassee, where he teaches for studios throughout the area as well as across the U.S., and has a dance career that has withstood the test of time for over 30 years. His career has taken him all over the world to choreograph and perform with such artists as Michael Jackson, Pink, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Madonna, Sting, John Travolta, Bruce Willis, Tom Selleck, Paula Abdul, Reba McEntire and Tom Hanks to name just a few. He has been both in front of and behind the camera in countless television shows and commercials, including Scrubs, Jay Leno, The Academy Awards, The Super Bowl, Sea Doo/Ski Doo, Ebay, Hurley and Visa. Some of his film credits include Pirates of the Caribbean, Forrest Gump, Perfect and The Mask.
Mr. Benson is no stranger to the students at Becky’s Dance Steps Studio having had a very successful year there last season. He choreographed several dances for the 2013 – 2014 Spring recitals and for the award winning dance team from the studio. He also was the featured teacher at the studio’s successful Summer Intensive/Dance Camp during July with almost 60 students in attendance.
“The students were inspired, motivated and very excited to have the opportunity to work with such an amazing talent and we now look forward to having Mr. Benson teaching on a regular basis at my studio again this year,” Ms. Robinson stated. More information about Scott Benson’s classes will be available during registration at Becky’s Dance Steps Studio on Wed., Aug. 13 – Fri., Aug. 15 from 3 – 6 p.m. daily.
