The Madison County School Board met in regular session for their first meeting of February on Tuesday, Feb. 2.
The first item up for discussion was staff and student trips. The board approved one staff trip and seven out-of-county school trips.
Superintendent Doug Brown announced that there was one student transfer request up for approval. A parent requested that their child, who attended Madison County Central School, be transferred to Pinetta Elementary School, as the parent works in Pinetta and would find it easier if his child was closer to him. The board determined there was room in the PES kindergarten class for the child to transfer to.
The Smart Horizon Career Online High School and the contract with PAEC were both approved unanimously by the board.
The board approved the financial reports for months ending Nov. 30 and Dec. 31 of 2015 and then approved screened school volunteers, personnel changes and permission to advertise two non-instructional positions for two food service workers for MCHS and MCCS.
To conclude the meeting, Brown informed the board that the investigation regarding Principal Willie Miles at MCCS is still going.
