The Florida Department of Health in Madison County has lifted the precautionary health advisory that was issued on Tuesday, April 5.
The city of Valdosta, Ga. had initially reported a spill made up of a combination of storm water and untreated sewage that had overflowed into the Withlacoochee River.
Recent river water samples that were taken by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection indicate that the river water meets surface water quality standards; ensuring the public they may again resume their water-related activities without concern.
