On Saturday, May 10, 2014, the Republican Party of Madison County hosted their annual James Madison US Constitution Celebration Dinner. Guest speakers were US Congressman Steve Southerland, District 2; US Congressman Ted Yoho, District 3; Florida House Representative Halsey Beshears, and State Attorney for the Third Judicial Circuit of Florida, Jeff Siegmeister.
The Madison Republicans awarded their 2014 James Blair Award to John and Bunny Maultsby. This award is presented to those individuals, who, without waiting for the government to act or provide assistance, step forward and help their community in times of need. Madison County has been fortunate enough to have all the Maultsbys, owners of Florida Plywood, in their county for many years and we thank them for all their service.
Congressmen Southerland and Yoho updated the attendees on what is happening and what needs to happen in Washington, DC. They shared their hopes and aspirations for our county in the coming years: defend our core values, founding principles, and the Constitution, cut Federal spending and save taxpayer dollars, hold leadership accountable, and protect individual liberties and freedoms.
Each Congressman focused on an important aspect of our country. Congressman Ted Yoho focused on the here and now issues that are being addressed in Washington and Congressman Southerland enriched our knowledge of the past and how our government was shaped not in spite of faith and religion, but because of its deep emersion and roots as a Christian nation.
