The 2015 Hurricane Season has been calm so far with only five named storms and the season is halfway over. But the National Hurricane Center shows Tropical Storm Erika possibly making landfall on Florida on Monday, August 31 as a Category 1 hurricane. Now is the time to check your supplies and make sure you have what is necessary for you and your family to survive at least three days without electricity. Also ensure that your supplies are not close to being out of date since the season does not end until November 30. According to the Florida Division of Emergency Management, emergency kits should have these items:
•One gallon of water for each person per day
• Canned and dried food
• Manual can opener
• Sleeping bags or cots
• Flashlight or lantern with batteries
• First-Aid kit • Bathroom supplies
• Medicines • Prescription drugs
