MCAA 8th Graders visit Gettysburg and D.C.

Chris Jones: Greene Publishing, Inc. The Madison Creative Arts Academy 8th graders recently spent four days in Gettysburg, Pa. and Washington D.C. Language Arts and Science teacher Leigh Ann Browning, who organized the trip, chose several stops and activities that directly aligned with school curriculum. Before the trip, the students read The Diary of Anne Frank, and while in D.C., the students visited the Holocaust Museum. Computer program keeps parents informed

Madison County Schools have adopted a program from Focus School Software which will allow teachers, administrators, parents and students to access a portal that displays key responsibilities, information, and notifications in real-time. Information available to parents through this program includes: address changes, student schedules, grades, and class assignments. Additional accessible information includes calendars, featured programs, demographics, attendance, and discipline information. Get Your Dukes On flag football tournament coming

Rick Patrick: Greene Publishing, Inc. On Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 25 and 26, Boyz to Kings will sponsor their fifth annual “Get Your Dukes On” flag football tournament. The seven team, double-elimination tournament will take place at Lanier Field in Madison. The tournament will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and will continue on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. There will also be food served at the tournament. Area teen swims toward success

Chris Jones: Greene Publishing, Inc. Madison County residents Bryan and Mikey Wilson are very proud grandparents. Their grandson, Charlie Gallagher, will graduate from Lawton Chiles High School in Tallahassee this year. Gallagher was named to the 2016-2017 USA Swimming Scholastic All-American Team. He is the Captain of the Chiles men’s swim team, which recently won the Class 3A Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) State Championship.
