Alexis Diaz, 43, of Beaumont, Tx. is being charged with failure to maintain lane after endangering his own life as well as that of his juvenile passenger.
Around 8:05 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12. Diaz was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 in the inside lane. Diaz’s vehicle, a 2008 Nissan Rogue, veered onto the southern shoulder of the roadway and continued traveling in the westbound direction for a short amount of time before Diaz quickly attempted to return to his lane but ended up over-correcting his vehicle. The action of over-steering caused his Nissan Rogue to travel back onto the inside lane and across into the outer lane before he came over to the northern shoulder of the road.
Diaz’s vehicle then overturned several times as it rolled across the shoulder of the road and came to a final rest facing north in an upright position on the northern shoulder of Interstate 10.
Neither Diaz or his 16-year-old passenger required transportation by the Emergency Medical Services.
