Florida Highway Patrol and the Madison County Sheriff's Office halted traffic and prohibited access to the roadway as there were debris and emergency service vehicles blocking the roadway. The roadway was also blocked due to life-flight landing.

According to a report by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), authorities were dispatched to mile marker 266 eastbound on Interstate 10, in Madison County, on Saturday, Jan. 13, at approximately 9:10 a.m., to a report that a vehicle had struck a tree. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and into the center median. The right side of Jacorion Chambers Ford Fusion entered the tree line and struck a large tree, coming to a final rest, facing north in the center median of Interstate 10.

Jacorion Chambers succumbed to his injuries and passed away. Jerelon Chambers was lif flighted to TMH and is listed in critical condition. Assisting at the scene was FHP, Madison County Sheriff's Office, Madison Fire Rescue, Madison County EMS, Lee Volunteer Fire Department, Suwannee Fire Rescue and Suwannee County EMS.
