Bobbi Jean Light, 51, and Chad Shipley, 38, both residents of Madison County, were involved in a traffic collision on Friday, Aug. 5 at 4:44 p.m., that resulted in Light being pronounced dead on the scene.
Shipley, of Pinetta, was traveling northbound on N. Washington Ave. (State Road 53 North) when Light, of Madison, who was traveling towards Shipley in the southbound travel lane, began to drift across the centerline and into the northbound lane.
Attempting to avoid colliding with Light's vehicle, Shipley steered his 2002 Ford F-350 truck hard to the right. However, the left front of Light's 1995 Ford F-150 truck collided with the the left side of Shipley's truck, as well as his flatbed; Shipley and his vehicle were propelled to the east shoulder of the road, while Light's vehicle began rotating in a counterclockwise direction and traveled north.
Shipley brought his truck to a controlled stop on the west shoulder of State Road 53 North, facing north, and Light's vehicle came to a final stop in the middle of the road, facing northeast.
First responders pronounced Light dead at the scene.
The intersection of N. Washington Ave. and NE Tooke St. was blocked off while Florida Highway Patrol, the Madison Police Department, Madison Fire Rescue, Madison County EMS and the Madison County Sheriff's Office attended the scene.
