Oliver Bradley, Veterans’ Services Officer for both Madison and Jefferson Counties, was all smiles as he stood in front of the County Commission, wearing the red-ribboned gold medal he had received from the Governor’s office a few days earlier. On April 10, Bradley had been the recipient of the Governor’s Veterans Service Award from Florida’s Gov. Rick Scott. At the County Commission Meeting a couple of weeks later, the commissioners were officially recognizing his achievement and offering their congratulations.
“It’s a great thing the governor’s doing,” said Bradley. “Especially for the Korean and Vietnam veterans who didn’t have such a great homecoming.”
“Oliver’s been a great service to our veterans in Madison and Jefferson Counties,” said County Coordinator Allen Cherry. “He fights for thousands of dollars worth of benefits for our veterans.”
“I feel real good about it,” said Bradley with a huge smile, adding that he planned to cherish the medal for a little while longer. “Thank you, Mr. Cherry, for giving me the opportunity to show it off a little. Thank you all.”
The Veterans Services Office for Madison County is located on the first floor of the Courthouse Annex, in Room 113. Local veterans who need assistance in finding out what benefits they’re entitled to, or need help accessing those benefits, can contact Bradley at (850) 973-3208.
