Leo Franklin Holden, 68, of Shady Grove, died Sunday, August 10. Leo was born December 28, 1945 in Perry, to the late Lawrence and Elsie (Blanton) Holden. Leo was preceded in death by one grandson Brandon Vizcarra, and two brothers Herbert Holden and Beau Holden.
Leo was of the Primitive Baptist Faith and was a member of Shady Grove Primitive Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, walking and visiting historical sites, and was a Civil War buff.
He is survived by four daughters: Lisa Vizcarra and Angela Courtney, both of Beaufort, S.C.; Kathy Reams (Joe), of Greenville; Jenny Cooley (Bradley), of Lamont, Fl.; and one son, Frankie Holden (Dawn) of Perry; eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three brothers, two sisters and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 13 at 11 a.m., at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home in Perry with Elders Gary Blanton and Bert Holden officiating. Interment followed in Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Shady Grove. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 12, at Shady Grove Primitive Baptist Church. All arrangements are under the care of Joe P. Burns Funeral Home.
