Elder Joe Andrews, Sr., 67, of Monticello, unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 11. Funeral services are Saturday, June 21, at 1 p.m., at the Old Jefferson County High School with burial in Hickory Hill Cemetery. Viewings were held Wednesday, June 18 at both of his churches; from 3:30-5 p.m., at Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church in Madison; and from 6:30-8 p.m., at St. James Primitive Baptist Church in Thomasville, Ga. Viewing-visitation will be at Tillman Of Monticello, (850) 997-5553, on Friday, June 20 from 3-7:30 p.m. A native of Leon County, Elder Andrews was a member of Miccosukee’s St. Paul Primitive Baptist Church and a master mason in Solomon Lodge No. 6., PHA. He was a retired machine operator for the Jefferson County Road Department. Mourning his sudden passing, but knowing with assurance that he is with the Lord are: his loving wife, Carolyn Ball Andrews; sons: Michael (Martisha) and Joe Andrews, Jr.; daughters: Shamika and Sherika Austin; brothers: Clifton (Hazel) and Lucious Andrews, Jr.; sisters: Rosetta A. Jackson and Josephine Black; and several grandchildren, godchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Lucious Sr. and Rosetta Jones Andrews.
