James Carroll Agner, 92, died Wednesday, November 12, at his home. Funeral service will be Saturday, November 15, at Beggs Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Barbara Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. Mr. Agner was born in Madison County. He was a Veteran of World War II, where he served our country with great distinction having earned five Battle Stars. He was part of the Normandy Invasion and he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Among the medals he received were the Good Conduct Medal, the EPO Medal and three yellow bars.
Mr. Agner was an ordained Minister for 12 years in Madison, where he was Pastor of the Madison Church of The Nazarene and Barbara Memorial.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Kitty Agner: three sons: James C. Agner, Jr., Willie Agner and Melvin Agner; a daughter, Carolyn Agner; four brothers: Robbie Agner, Paul Agner, Samuel Agner and Walter Agner; three sisters: Mildred Agner, Shellie Durant and Joyce Williams, all of Madison.
