Christine Retha Rogers Tuten, 74, of Monticello, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 11, 2014, at First Baptist Church of Monticello. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday in the Monticello Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3709 W. Jetton Ave., Tampa, FL 33629.
A native of Madison Co., FL, and former resident of Clanton, AL and Perry FL, she has resided in Monticello since 1971. Christine was former owner of Badcock and the Monticello Stock Yard. She was also actively in Agra Business in Jefferson and surrounding counties and retired from the Jefferson Co. School Board System and currently secretary for Beggs Funeral Homes Monticello Chapel.
She is survived by her husband, J.N. Tuten Jr. whom she married in 1960; son, Gary Tuten and wife Cathy of Monticello; brother, Freddie Rogers of Perry; sisters, Cossette Driggers and Ellamae Grubbs both of Perry; brother-in-law, Cecil Wright (Wilma) of Perry; sister-in-law Catherine Osborne of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Chris Tuten and wife Shaughnessy, and Jennifer and Matthew Tuten; one great-granddaughter, Kaitlin Goddard and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
