As the public is well aware, on April 17, a child abduction occurred in the city of Madison.
First and foremost, the City of Madison Police Department (MPD) is thankful that the child was located, safe and that he was reunited with his family.
Since that time, a multi-agency command post was established and the investigation has been ongoing.
On Tuesday, May 10, the command post decided to operate from their respective offices and FDLE headquarters to continue the investigation.
“On behalf of the Madison Police Department, I would like extend our gratitude to the Agents from FDLE and the FBI whose tireless efforts regarding the case went above and beyond. In addition,” wrote Sgt. David Spicer. “We appreciate the cooperation of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office who provided the MPD with the initial command post.”
When more Agents became involved in the investigation, the command post was relocated to the Madison County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and the MPD expressed a special thank you to EOC Director Alan Whigham, who made the transition smooth and was supportive throughout the investigation.
Last but not least, MPD appreciates the support of Winn Dixie, North Florida Pharmacy and various private citizens who donated food and drinks to the command post during this trying time.
In closing, the Madison County community can rest assured as the Madison Police Department, Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, will continue to exhaust all efforts to identify and apprehend the suspect.
