“This is the first time that I know of the girls making it to the finals of Districts Tournaments,” said Gudz. “That’s an accomplishment to make it to the finals.” Madison County High School Tennis Team went to the District Tournaments hosted by Rickards High School in Tallahassee, March 31 and April 1.
The boys’ tennis team, which includes Seth Molnar, Alex Oliver, Jacob Moore, Adam Androski, Tyler Lundy, Michael Goley and Tucker Cherry, all made it to the quarterfinals for Districts.
“It was a rebuilding year for the boys’ tennis team,” said Coach Brigitte Gudz.
Most of her boys’ team last year were seniors and graduated.
The girls’ tennis team that went to District Tournaments includes Ali Patron, Eryn Alderman, Kim Sapp, Samantha Hentges and Victoria Todd.
Ali Patron and Eryn Alderman reached the quarterfinals. Patron and Alderman also played as doubles and reached the quarterfinals.
Kim Sapp, Samantha Hentges and double players Sapp and Victoria Todd reached the semifinals.
Todd reached the finals at the District Tournament.
“This is the first time that I know of the girls making it to the finals of Districts Tournaments,” said Gudz. “That’s an accomplishment to make it to the finals.”
Todd has been playing tennis since the 9th grade and enjoys it the most out of her other sports volleyball and soccer.
“You could say it was a pretty exciting sour seventeen birthday,” said Todd about making it to finals but not getting to continue.
Todd will have one more year to play and wanted to thank her parents and Ms. Gudz for their support.
