Madison County High School (MCHS) Head Football Coach Mike Coe has been named the District 3 Coach of the Year by the Florida Athletic Coaches Association. Coe, who has been coaching football since 1994, came to MCHS from Auburndale High School in 2003. Coe was the Cowboys' offensive line coach in 2003 and offensive coordinator from 2004-2009. Coe was named head coach at MCHS in 2010 and since then, the Cowboys have amassed a record of 70 wins and 19 losses. This year the Cowboys have dominated the district, winning the district championship with an undefeated record.
Coach Coe, never one to take all the spotlight for himself, is quick to share the credit for this honor. “This honor is a direct reflection of the dedication and commitment that my assistant coaches have towards our program and players. This is not a one man coaching award, this is a coaching staff deal,” said Coe.
Seeing the way the players have bought into what Coe is teaching them and the success the team has enjoyed so far this year, it is easy to see that the FACA made a wise choice.
