MCHS Cowboy Basketball Seniors Recognized By FACA

To add to an awesome season for the Madison County Cowboys, Seniors Coddrick Griffin and Deontaye were both recognized by the Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA). Senior Coddrick Griffin was recognized as FACA Player of the Year. Griffin has demonstrated his worthiness of such as he served as a very positive leader on the team. He ended his senior year averaging 7.8 points per game scoring a total of 321 points for the season. Griffin was characterized as a “beast” for his defensive skills on the court, ending the season with a total of 146 offensive rebounds, 186 defensive rebounds, 332 total rebounds, 64 blocks and 36 steals. Senior Deontaye Oliver was awarded the FACA award for his academic achievements. Oliver has not only demonstrated his athletic abilities, but has excelled academically as well. Oliver has achieved a 3.5 cumulative grade point average and 3.879 unweighted cumulative grade point average. Coach Demps expressed how proud he was of both athletes stating, “They are both the epitome of exceptional student athletes and will be greatly missed next season.” Both athletes will be recognized for their achievements at the banquet scheduled in April. A date and time has not been set, but will be announced soon.
