The Madison County Central School Broncos volleyball team was named the district champs after they beat the Taylor Middle School Bulldogs 2-1 Tuesday night in the eastern division championship game.
The tournament began at MCCS with a battle of the Bulldogs, Taylor Middle versus Suwannee Middle School. Taylor managed to win the first set and Suwannee won the second set. With their future on the line, Taylor was able to bounce back and defeat Suwannee in the final set.
Suwannee was eliminated and Taylor survived to play the Broncos in the following game. The Bulldogs beat the Broncos 25-19 in the first set. However, the Broncos regrouped and went on to win the final two sets with a final score 25-22 and 15-11, respectively.
“The Lady Broncos came to fight and they did. With only three returning players and 15 new players it was a tough battle, but my girls came out victoriously,” said Head Coach Tyhesha Judge. “I’m so proud of the growth that they showed this season. It’s just a glimpse into what we have to look forward to next season.”
The Broncos traveled to Wakulla River Springs Middle School Thursday night to play for the conference championship.
