The Madison County Central School’s Bronco Baseball team has enjoyed a great year which enabled them to attend the Florida Star Conference Championship last Thursday. The Broncos were pitted against Baker County and both teams gave everything they had during the game, but in the end the Broncos fell to Baker, losing 2-1.
Coach Mike Ragans said everyone played well and Dustin and Dillon Bass both pitched an outstanding game for the Broncos. Jae Mitchell was 1-2 at the plate and Drew Annett was 2-3 with the Broncos having runners in scoring position three different innings, but unable to get a clutch hit. Madison and Baker were tied after the fourth inning and scored at the top of the fifth, but Baker was able to get in two runs at the end of the fifth, ending the scoring for the game.
The Broncos finished the year 9-3. “We had a very good group of eighth grade players to lead this team,” said Coach Ragans. “They have been together with us for three years and are not just good athletes but excel in the classroom as well.” He also added that they would be recognized at their next level of baseball play.
