Chad Cato, 25, of Madison, suffered serious injuries during a wreck on Thursday, June 9 in Taylor County at an estimated time of 9:30 a.m.
Cato was traveling northbound on County Road 14 in the northbound lane when his vehicle traveled over into the eastern shoulder of the roadway.
Cato then overcorrected his vehicle to the left.
His actions caused the 2014 Nissan Rogue that Cato was driving to cross over both travel lanes and onto the western shoulder of the roadway.
Cato was not able to stop the course of his vehicle, and it continued to travel in a northwestern direction and the front end of the vehicle collided with a large tree.
Cato’s vehicle came to a final rest facing north on the western shoulder of County Road 14.
Florida Highway Patrol attended to the crash scene and was assisted by the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office and Taylor County EMS, who transported Cato to Doctor’s Memorial Hospital in Perry, as he had sustained serious injuries during the collision.
Cato was wearing a seatbelt and, according to the FHP reports, no alcohol was involved in the crash; however, Cato is facing charges of failure to maintain proper lane of travel.
