A log truck overturned and spilled a load of logs on State Road 53 on Thursday, May 29 at 1:15 p.m. According to FHP report, Jorge Torralbas-Legon, a driver for L&L Wood Hauling was traveling northbound on State Road 53 South at approximately 55 mph. The vehicle experienced a tire tread separation on the right side front drive axel of the tractor.
The driver stated he heard a loud noise and looked to see what was making the noise. The vehicle ran off the roadway onto the east shoulder. The driver attempted to regain the roadway and overcorrected to the left. The load of logs on the rear trailer created a load shift causing the vehicle to overturn onto the shoulder and the logs spilling onto the highway. The vehicle slid northwest across both lanes of SR 53 and came to a rest facing northwest with the log trailer blocking both lanes.
According to witnesses, Madison County EMS checked the driver and he was not transported but remained at the scene.
