A long time Madison resident and County Road Dept. employee, Daniel Bass, 65, recently underwent brain surgery in order to alleviate fluid build up on his brain. On Friday, July 22, Bass went into the hospital for what was thought to be a cyst on his pituitary gland. It was discovered that he had fluid on his brain and that his spinal cord was the source. After numerous surgeries, he developed pneumonia and an e. coli infection.
Bass has been released from the Intensive Care Unit at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and is in the Tallahassee Memorial Rehabilitation Center for an indefinite time. Bass' wife, Debra Bass, is unable to work at this time due to the demands of caring for her husband.
A GoFundMe account has been set up under the name “Daniel Bass Love Offering” in order to help defray expenses for the family. Anyone wishing to contribute can go to www.gofundme.com/2jkz7ej2. People can also donate to the Daniel Bass Medical Expense account at Madison County Community Bank.
