Local Man Arrested For D.U.I Manslaughter

Following the Florida Highway Patrol’s investigation into the fatal crash that occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 12 that resulted in the death of local nurse, Jessica Pyles, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office executed an arrest warrant for Richard Kyle Cruce, 52, of Madison on Friday, Nov. 14 at 6:09 a.m. Cruce has been charged with D.U.I. Manslaughter. 

The two-vehicle collision occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 6:20 a.m., on Hwy. 145, near NE Daisy Street. According to the FHP, Cruce was traveling northbound on Hwy. 145 in his 2006 Toyota pickup while Pyles, 36, of Hahira, Ga. was traveling southbound in her 2009 Toyota 4-Runner SUV.

Cruce traveled left of the centerline into the path of Pyles and the left front of his vehicle collided with the left front of her vehicle. After impact, Cruce rotated counter clockwise onto the east shoulder of SR 145 and came to a final rest facing northwest. Pyles’ vehicle rotated counter clockwise onto the west shoulder of SR 145 and came to a final rest facing southwest.

Pyles was pronounced deceased at the scene at 6:48 a.m., by a paramedic.
