It was the first event of its kind for the Kiwanis Club of Madison, and it drew about 80 people for a fun-filled event that Kiwanis Club President Jerome Wyche called “very festive.”
By happy coincidence, it fell on a Friday night that was also Valentine’s Day, an evening when lots of people go out for a fun evening, because Kiwanians wanted a lot of people to come. The event was held both as a membership drive and a way to let the general public see the kind of community involvement that is the club’s hallmark.
In the Madison County Senior Center’s spacious dining room, there was plenty of room for dancing to all kinds of music, with live entertainment from karaoke to some great comedy by Timothy McCray of Madison. About 20 door prizes were given away throughout the evening, and the club would like to thank the provider who made all those prizes available.
In addition, there is an ongoing raffle for a 50” LED flat-screen TV, with the drawing to be held at Down Home Days, April 19th. Folks at the Valentine Ball had a chance to buy a few $5 raffle tickets if they wished, and people can continue to buy raffle tickets from any Kiwanis member from now until the drawing. The proceeds from that will go toward the Kiwanis Club of Madison’s Scholarship Fund.
