Keeping tabs on Congress

The issues that Congress addressed in recent weeks were prohibiting federal funding for Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Following are the corresponding votes from Senator Bill Nelson and Senator Marco Rubio. In the Senate: Prohibit Federal Funding for Planned Parenthood Federation of America – With a vote of 53-46 and one not voting, the Senate rejected a motion to invoke cloture on the motion to proceed to legislation that would prohibit Federal funding of Planned Parenthood Federation of America or any of the organization's affiliates, subsidiaries, successors or clinics. The bill would state that it shall not be interpreted to reduce overall federal funding available for women's health or to affect abortion-related limitations in appropriations laws. Nelson voted no. Rubio voted yes. The Senate and the House are in recess until September 8.
