City of Madison Police Chief Kenneth Moore reports that the Madison Police Department has recently acquired K-9 Jozey. K-9 Jozey is a German Shepherd and is the first ever K-9 with the Madison Police Department. Upon completion of approximately 30-60 days of training, K-9 Jozey will be trained in narcotics detection and will assist the Uniformed Patrol Division with their crime prevention and detection efforts. Corporal David Myers has been assigned to K-9 handler duties and will be K-9 Jozey’s handler. K-9 Jozey will be an asset to the Madison Police Department and citizens of The City of Madison as they move forward and continue to rid the community of illegal narcotics. It is the vision of the Madison Police Department to expand the newly formed K-9 Unit to four narcotic detection K-9’s within five years.
