James “Jim” Edward Everett, 71, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, March 24, in Jacksonville.
Funeral services will be friday, March 28 at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Beggs Funeral Home in Madison. Interment will follow at Mt. Horeb Cemetery. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Jim was born on December 19, 1942 in Madison. He was the oldest son of Doris Everett and the late Edward ”Mutt” Everett. He was a graduate of the University of Florida and an avid Florida Gator fan. Jim was an enthusiastic teacher who retired after 30-plus years of teaching from the Duval County School System. He loved farming, woodworking, was a master gardner and an avid reader of all genres. He attended Macedonia Baptist Church and was active in his Sunday School class. He will be remembered as a kind and generous man who labored as a servant of Jesus. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Sandra Tibbals Everett; two children: James T. Everett (Melissa) of Lancaster, Pa. and Sandy Elmer (Adam); seven grandchildren; Mekayla, Lincoln, Maverik, and Kinslee Everett and Hugh, Chris and Chase Elmer. Other family includes one brother, Bill Everett (Judy) of Defuniak Springs and four sisters; Ruth Rodgers (Bill) of Titusville, Libby Hutto (Buddy), Ann Olan (Phil) and Lynn Waller (Glenn) all of Madison County and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
