On Saturday, Jan. 9 at approximately 5:32 p.m., the Madison 911 Center received a report of a structure fire at 553 NE Country Kitchen Road just east of the City of Madison. Responding units found a doublewide mobile home with smoke coming from the eaves around the roof and out of some of the windows. No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. New Home Fire Rescue, Madison County Emergency Medical Services and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office supported Madison Fire Rescue. Bystanders had seen the smoke and called 911 and waited at the scene for help to arrive. Their concern was that someone might be in the structure but smoke and heat prevented them from entering. The Red Cross was called to assist the family and the State Fire Marshall was called to do the investigation.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation; the Madison Fire Rescue had nothing to report regarding the cause.
