On Wednesday, May 31, Madison County Memorial Hospital (MCMH) took the time to say “thank you” to a very special group of volunteers. The MCMH Auxiliary is a group of people dedicated to making a difference in our community by providing volunteer hours to help facilitate services at MCMH. These vital volunteers man the front desk in the main lobby of MCMH, as well as in the out-patient area. They deliver mail to patients. They can even be found helping in departments such as purchasing to help ensure materials and supplies are available when needed. Sometimes the greatest service they provide is to simply give a friendly smile to someone to help brighten their day.
Several Auxiliary members were recognized with service pins honoring their service to the hospital. Receiving one year pins were: Beth Brinson, Rhonda Galbraith, Sharon Switzer, Julia Waldrep, Janet Zygarlowski, and Cookie Mitman. Mary Ann Webb received a five year pin. Sue Quick was honored for 15 years of service. Doris Cowart received a pin for 20 years of service. Francis Mercer, Gean McCullough, and Betty Sirmon received recognition for 25 years of service to the Auxiliary.
The MCMH Auxiliary is always looking for more volunteers to join their ranks. Two or three hours a week can make a big difference. Men are also encouraged to volunteer. Anyone wishing to help their community by volunteering with the MCMH Auxiliary is asked to call MCMH Administration at (850) 253-1971.
