Madison County Sheriff David Harper reports that on Thursday morning, June 9, at approximately 9:07 a.m., the Madison County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) Communications Center received a call from the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office reporting that one of their deputies was in pursuit of a silver sedan traveling into Madison County on SR 145 / Colin Kelly Highway at speeds of 135 miles per hour. Multiple Madison County Deputies responded to intercept the pursuit to prevent the fleeing vehicle from entering the city limits of Madison. Two MCSO deputies joined the pursuit near the intersection of Dusty Miller and Colin Kelly continuing south at speeds over 130 miles per hour. Moments after joining the pursuit, the Lowndes County patrol vehicle became disabled, and MCSO deputies took lead in the pursuit.
Other responding MCSO deputies set up in two separate locations ahead of the pursuit to deploy tire deflation devices while officers from the Madison Police Department also set up to deploy tire deflation devices near the city limits of Madison. The fleeing vehicle avoided the first tire deflation device near Fellowship Baptist Church and continued south at 135 miles per hour. As the sedan reached the second tire deflation device, a MCSO deputy was able to deflate the sedan’s front passenger side tire however the sedan continued to flee toward the city limits at speeds over 100 miles per hour. As the sedan approached the area of NE Brickyard Pond Avenue an officer with the Madison Police Department attempted to deploy a third tire deflation device but the sedan managed to avoid it and continued to flee toward the city limits. A Sergeant with MPD was staged near the Madison Church of God and was able to successfully deploy a fourth tire deflation device affecting the left front tire of the sedan despite nearly being struck by the fleeing vehicle.
The sedan continued fleeing into the city limits on NE Livingston Street with both front tires deflating. The sedan approached the intersection of North Washington Avenue and attempted to turn south; however, MCSO Lieutenant Bobby Boatwright intentionally drove his patrol truck into the path of the fleeing sedan pushing the vehicle into a yard where it struck a tree bringing the pursuit to an end. The driver and sole occupant of the sedan was immediately arrested without injury. Lt. Boatwright also received no injuries from the crash.
The yard where the driver and Lt. Boatwright ended up was that of Cecilia Pridgeon. She reported having heard the sirens from inside the house and immediately retrieved the baby that was present in the other room. The crash happened on the side of the house where the baby had been located.
The driver was identified as Lenoris Jerome Rolle, 46, of Jonesboro, Ga., and was currently on inmate release status. Rolle was transported to the Madison County Jail where he is facing felony charges from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, the Madison Police Department, and the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office, and has an active arrest warrant from Collier County, Fla.
