According to Lt. Riordan of the Florida Highway Patrol, on Tuesday, March 21, at 12:45 p.m., Trooper J.R. Tillie responded to a wreck on Interstate 10, near mile marker 291 in the westbound lane.
Danny Edmonston, of Greenville, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck in the outside lane. Edmonston stated that he became lightheaded and blacked out prior to the crash. His truck drove off the north side of the interstate and continued onto the shoulder, where it struck a tree. The truck rotated clockwise and came to a final rest near the tree, facing east. Edmonston was treated on scene by Suwannee County EMS.
The wreck closed both westbound lanes for approximately 20 minutes. Edmonston was life-flighted by Air-life Seven to Shands University of Florida Medical Center in Gainesville.
Edmonston was wearing his seatbelt and alcohol was not involved.
