On July 13, Michael Christopher Johnson, 43, of Greenville, was arrested for possession of cocaine and disorderly intoxication in Jefferson County. The Monticello Police Department (MPD) Lieutenant Ric Colson and Patrol Officer Alan Camper were dispatched at about 10:00 that evening to the Pit Stop gas station, for a report of a man pulling a knife on a victim. When they arrived, they found that the suspect had fled; shortly thereafter, they found the suspect, hiding behind Monticello Liquors. The suspect, Johnson, did have a pocket knife in his possession, and pills that tested positive for cocaine. He was also “extremely intoxicated” according to MPD reports. The victim declined to press charges concerning the knife, so the charges only included possession of cocaine and disorderly intoxication. Bond was set at $3,000 and he bonded out of jail the next day.
