Get ready, folks! Greenville’s 29th Annual Country Christmas is this weekend: Friday, Dec. 12 and Saturday, Dec. 13. The two day event is sure to be one of the best that has ever been. Friday at 6 p.m, Country Christmas will be kicked off with some community caroling, a live Nativity scene and a special tree lighting ceremony. The evening’s activities will be followed by refreshments at the Greenville/Madison Multi-Purpose Center at 7 p.m.
On Saturday at 9 a.m, arts and crafts booths will open and the live entertainment will begin so make sure you arrive early! The opening ceremony will commence at 10 a.m., consisting of a prayer, the National Anthem, the Flag Salute and the recognition of Grand Marshal and Citizen of the Year. At 11a.m., the Country Christmas parade begins. The parade is always a sure-fire hit! At noon, the winners of the bake-off contest, gingerbread house contest and children’s art contest will be announced.
Come hungry because, aside from all the food vendors and tasty treats, there will be a cake auction at 1 p.m. At 1:15 p.m., sit back, relax and enjoy some entertainment from Brett Wellman and The Stone Cold Blues band. From 9 a.m to 4 p.m, visitors are welcome to check out the children’s art contest display and gingerbread house display at the American Legion building. In addition, there will also be a blood drive co-sponsored by the American Legion Post 131. What a great way to give this Christmas season!
Last, there will be a Greenville High School reunion at the Greenville Baptist Church fellowship hall at 6 p.m., following the day’s events. Greenville Country Christmas is a great way to fellowship with friends old and new, shop for interesting finds, eat great food and get into the Christmas spirit. All are welcome!
