Greene Publishing, Inc. welcomes a new face that may be a familiar one to some in Madison. Rick Patrick has joined the staff as a news reporter and columnist for the Madison County Carrier and the Madison Enterprise-Recorder. Rick was born and raised in Perry, Fl., and has many family ties in Madison County. After graduating from Taylor County High School in 1978, Rick attended North Florida Junior College (NFJC). While at NFJC, Rick was involved in several theatre productions, a hobby that Rick has enjoyed for many years since. After leaving NFJC, Rick spent one year with the international group, Up With People. Rick received a B.S. in sociology with a minor in music education and communications from Florida State University in 1981.
After serving as the Band Director at Taylor County High School for two years, Rick moved to Valdosta, Ga. While in Valdosta, Rick got involved with Theatre Guild Valdosta, performing in numerous productions as well as serving on the Board of Directors as Publicity Chair. In 2009, Rick received his B.F.A. in theatre arts from Valdosta State University.
When asked what he's most looking forward to in this new job, Rick stated, “I'm really looking forward to helping tell the stories of the people of Madison County. The stories of each of us contribute to the story of all of us.”
In his spare time, Rick enjoys going to and performing in theatre productions, white-water rafting, and scuba diving. He still lives in Valdosta with a Jack Russell dog named Natty.
