As of August 2015, the Madison County Tax Collector's Office has had two driver's license stations within their office.
The Tax Collector's Office does not offer any road tests but instead provide services for new licenses (not requiring road test), Florida Citizen Original Learners (not requiring road test), basic driver's license renewals, ID card and driver's license replacements, D6 reinstatements, child support reinstatements, and failure to pay court financial obligations reinstatements. In addition, the Tax Collector's Office can add things on driver's licenses; for example, if someone passes the course to operate a motorcycle, the Tax Collector's Office can add the information stating the person is a licensed motorcycle operator on their license. Retired veterans can also add that they are a veteran on their license from the Tax Collector's Office. The Tax Collector's Office does not offer any services for CDLs.
Those wanting to get their permit, or any restricted driver, may also take the 50-question road sign and road test at the Tax Collector's Office.
There are currently two driver's license stations at the Tax Collector's Office; however, Lisa Tuten, the Madison County Tax Collector, has gained permission from the Madison County Commission to add a third station in their office, but the necessary equipment has yet to be obtained.
Judy Smith, Joanie Hughey, and Connie McClamma are the three employees of the Madison County Tax Collector's Office that help the citizens of Madison County with all of their driver's license needs.
The office hours of the Tax Collector's Office are Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 4 p.m., however, no testing may be done after 3 p.m. Those wanting to take a road signs test must schedule their test before 3 p.m.
The Madison County Tax Collector's Office is located on 229 SW Pinckney Street in Madison, Room 102. For more information or any questions, call (850) 973-6136.
