On Saturday, Nov. 12, the new public restroom at the Four Freedoms Trail, located on NE Persimmon Dr., in Pinetta, will be dedicated with a celebration at the playground, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. A mural portraying the 511 Pacific Steam Engine train that operated in Madison County beginning in the 1920's is painted on the restroom wall by artist Danny Graves. The mural was designed to celebrate the Rails-to-Trails project which leads to a scenic overlook and a railroad trestle on the Withlacoochee River.
Join in on the celebration of the epic steam engine and the diesel trains that ran through Madison up until 2005. Don't miss out on the chance to hear the story of how the Four Freedoms Trail came to be.
Come see the antique lantern collection which will be presented by Wayne Vickers. Vickers and his grandfather operated the trains years ago.
Invite all of your friends and family to learn about this historic feat and meet the people responsible for making Rails-to-Trails a reality for Madison County.
