On Friday, January 15, a former Madison County man was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Old Lloyd Road.
According to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the wreck occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m., when Berry Martin Reeves, 59, of Monticello, was driving east on Old Lloyd Road, in Monticello. For reasons unknown, Reeves traveled onto the south shoulder, did not correct or try to brake, and hit a tree a tree.
FHP offered no further information at this time, other than that this wreck resulted in the loss of Reeves’ life. Reeves was wearing a seatbelt.
Reeves grew up in Madison, where he graduated from Madison High School in the class of 1974. He is survived by many loving family members: son, Joseph M. Reeves (Samantha) of Charlotte, NC; son, Justin M. Reeves (Allison) of Jacksonville, Fl.; sister, Nina Watts; sister, Patricia Schmit.
Beggs Funeral Home of Madison is handling all funeral arrangements.
Services and visitation will be held in the Beggs’ chapel at 235 NW Orange Avenue, Madison. Visitation and viewing will occur on Thursday, Jan. 21 at 10 a.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 21 at 11 a.m. Internment will be held at Hanson Methodist Cemetery following the service.
