Emerald Greene Parsons was announced the “2015 Florida Farm Bureau News Person of the Year” during the 70th Annual Madison County Farm Bureau Meeting on Tuesday, September 15 by County President Jeffery Hamrick. Florida Farm Bureau Federation invites county Farm Bureaus to nominate one print journalist or broadcaster for the Florida Farm Bureau ‘Newsperson of the Year’ award. This award is designed to recognize an individual who has covered agriculture as a professional journalist during the past year.
The nominee’s coverage serves to increase public understanding of contemporary agricultural production and the people who make it such a successful foundation of our society. Only one entry per county Farm Bureau is permitted. Parsons will receive a plaque from the Federation and will be honored at the state annual meeting in late October. Florida Farm Bureau will provide her with complimentary registration and one night’s hotel stay for the meeting.
