Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that the Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force conducted a covert investigation involving the manufacture and sell of bath salts most commonly known as Flakka. The investigation resulted in obtaining arrest warrants for Kendrick Lamar Weatherspoon, 33, of Madison and a search warrant for two structures located at 134 SE Old County Camp Road in Madison, where Weatherspoon was conducting his illegal activity. On Thursday, Nov. 5, the Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T.) executed the search warrant on the two structures, where Weatherspoon was located and taken into custody without incident. As a result of the search warrant, Weatherspoon was found to have in his possession additional bath salts, marijuana, two hand guns one of which was reported stolen, ammunition, undisclosed amount of U.S. currency, scales and additional paraphernalia used in his illegal drug sales.
Weatherspoon was arrested for a warrant for two counts of possession of bath salts with intent to sell within 100 feet of a church and a warrant for two counts of sell of bath salts within 100 feet of a church. Additional charges as a result of the search warrant are three counts of possession of firearm by convicted felon, grand theft of firearm, possession of bath salts with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a church, possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,000 feet of a church, two counts of possession of firearm during commission of felony, possession of marijuana over 20 grams with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia. Weatherspoon has been previously arrested for driving while license suspended (habitual offender), arson, larceny, criminal mischief, battery, aggravated battery, possession and sell of cocaine and nine counts of violation of probation.
