It was a patriotic social gathering by Cherry Lake on Tuesday, July 21, when the American Legion Post No. 224 welcomed Chamber members and other community leaders to the monthly Business After Hours gathering.
From 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., guests enjoyed sandwiches, chips and dip and the camaraderie that accompanied the evening by Post officers. During the event, numerous folded American flags were presented to sponsors who were in attendance.
Beginning on Memorial Day in May, well over 100 American flags were sponsored by community members and flown around the Madison County Courthouse, keeping with recent tradition. The flags were taken down around the Fourth of July and folded properly. If you sponsored an American flag that was flown during that time and you were not in attendance for Business After Hours, flags and certificates will be delivered, time-permitting.
The American Legion is the nation's largest wartime veterans service organization, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security and continued devotion to their fellow service members and veterans. The American Legion depends on active members, volunteers and participants to serve the community in which it thrives.
The next Business After Hours is scheduled to be hosted by the Madison Church of God, located at 771 NE Colin Kelly Hwy., in Madison. Madison Church of God is known for community-invited activities such as recent drive-in movies, the fall pumpkin patch and the annual Passion Play. Pastor Jason Justus and the congregation look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 5 p.m.
The Business After Hours mixer has become a popular social and networking event offered in a casual, comfortable atmosphere. They are held on the third Tuesday of each month at the office location of a Chamber member. It's an opportunity for Chamber members to form relationships, which strengthens community and friendship bonds.
