Governor Rick Scott just signed an official proclamation. It can’t fix education, lower taxes, or regulate the economy: but it can show a segment of the population that Florida cares.
The proclamation designates January 4-8 as First Responder Appreciation Week.
“Florida’s crime rate is at a 44 year low because of the hard work of our law enforcement officers and first responders who put themselves at risk every day and sacrifice their own lives to protect others,” said Governor Rick Scott. “I encourage all Florida students and families to recognize First Responders Appreciation Week.”
First responders include police officers, Sheriff’s deputies, and Florida Highway Patrolmen; firefighters; emergency medical technicians and paramedics. These people are public servants, who train day in and day out to lay down their life for their fellow man.
So if you encounter a first responder this week, tell them thanks for the work that they do.
