An abandoned doublewide mobile home caught fire on Thursday, Jan. 14 around 3:13 p.m.
The Madison 911 Center received a report of a structure fire in progress on Delphinium St. off Hwy 145. Madison Fire Rescue and Pinetta Fire Rescue were dispatched to the scene.
Behind the home, there was a shed that also became engulfed in flames and the fire quickly grew to a raging point.
Because of the remote location of the fire, additional water support was needed to keep the flames down. Pinetta’s tanker as well as the Division of Forestry’s tanker arrived on scene to assist Madison Fire Rescue.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office had two officers on scene handling traffic control and Madison County Emergency Medical Services were on scene in standby in the event of fire or smoke related injuries.
Both of the structures, which appear to have been deserted for quite some time, are estimated to be total losses.
The Madison Fire Rescue had no reported cause, but said that due to conflicting stories from eyewitnesses on scene, the Fire Marshal has been called in to investigate the cause of the fire.
