Family Dollar is in the early stages to relocate from their building in Madison Square Shopping Center on U.S. 90 to the abandoned lot next to Wells Fargo at the corner of Orange Avenue and U.S. 90.
The City of Madison Planning and Zoning Board approved Family Dollar’s site and development plan. The original plan was to have a common split face block with a limited store front but when the Planning and Zoning Board discussed that it was in the historical district, Family Dollar took it upon themselves to replace the block with brick and add two sets of double windows with additional canopies on each side of the store front.
“Family Dollar made these additional changes just on the request of the Planning and Zoning Board,” said Chuck Hitchcock, Superintendent of the Planning and Development Services. “I feel that this shows Family Dollar has more than a monetary interest in our community.”
