Stephanie Crossley, age 45, was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital following a vehicle wreck on Sunday, Sept. 4, around 8:04 a.m., after Crossley advised she had fallen asleep behind the wheel.
Traveling south on Hwy 221 in her 2015 Nissan Altima, Crossley dozed off and her vehicle began to travel southwest onto the grassy shoulder of the roadway.
The first point of impact took place when Crossley's Altima collided with a drainage culvert, and became airborne. The vehicle cleared a private driveway on Hwy 221, and then continued to travel southwest until the front of the vehicle collided with a wooden fence, providing the second point of impact.
Before coming to a final rest, the vehicle collided with a standing tree and rotated half a turn in a clockwise direction before stopping, and coming to a rest facing northeast.
Crossley, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained serious injuries, but was able to provide an account of her wreck to Madison County EMS first responders.
According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, no charges have been issued against Crossley.
