On Thursday, July 21, at approximately 10:15 a.m., the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) was notified by road maintenance workers after a body was found alongside the shoulder of U.S. Hwy 19, in Madison County, near the Taylor County line.
Because it was obscured by tall grass, the body appeared to have been on the shoulder for at least two weeks. After much investigation, the victim was identified as Destiny S. Newsome Darshae, 23, of Valdosta.
Evidence, such as debris and tire marks, at the scene indicate that Darshae may have been involved in a traffic fatality, according to the FHP report.
No other information is known about the subject. All of the other individuals involved with the wreck are still unknown. FHP is assuming the investigation of this incident and will be assisted by the Madison County Sheriff's Office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the State Attorney's Office.
At this time, FHP requests that anyone with information regarding this incident come forward. FHP can be contacted at (850) 410-3069. An additional request for information may be disseminated once more information becomes available.
