Jaime Mitchell, Activities Coordinator/Director at Crosswinds Health and Rehabilitation Center, stays active by working to keep the center’s residents moving. On a typical day, she moves from activity to activity while residents call out to her as she passes by. Mitchell says she strives to provide activities that meet the needs of all the residents, while respecting their desires and preferences.
One of the things Mitchell is most proud of at the center is their sun-drenched outdoor courtyard that overlooks a pond and is complete with an enclosed porch, rocking chairs and ceiling fans. She said the rain showers late this winter brought gorgeous blooms and luscious green grasses the residents are able to enjoy this spring.
When creating activities for residents, Jaime says Crosswinds has “fabulous residents” from a multitude of backgrounds that bring their own talents and experiences to the table. On a given day, residents might be sipping coffee at a coffee club, playing games or working puzzles, participating in arts and crafts, enjoying pet visits, listening to special musical guests, working out, having their hair styled or loading up to take part in an outing to the library or grocery store.
Mitchell loves being where she is and says, “We have hard-working and talented dietary, housekeeping, maintenance, therapy and nursing teams, a kind-hearted social services director and a gifted administrator. There is a lot of love within these busy walls.”
