According to the Thomas County Ga. Sheriff's Office Chief Investigator Tim Watkins, the suspects who robbed the Wells Fargo Bank in Madison on Friday, Aug. 25, also visited two banks in Thomasville, Ga., earlier that morning. Surveillance photos have been released showing two suspects who are, according to authorities, men dressed as women. They visited two banks in Thomasville: The FMB on E. Washington St. and the Suntrust on Williamsburg Ave.
The Thomasville Police Department was called, and officers were dispatched to both banks in response to “suspicious people who entered the bank.”
The suspects left the banks and eventually the area before law enforcement could stop them for questioning. As reported in the Wednesday, Aug. 30 edition of The Madison County Carrier, later the same day, the suspects were arrested in Madison County after robbing the Wells Fargo Bank on W. Base St.
No further details have been released by the Madison Police Department, which is investigating the case in conjunction with the Federal Bureau of Investigations.
